Ben Steinberg

Ben Steinberg comes to Grab Networks via Voxant with deep experience in the retail and technology space. Prior to Grab he worked at GS1, a leading global organization dedicated to improving the efficiency of supply and demand chains, where he was responsible for the technical realignment of the GS1 Global Registry in support of the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN). Previously, Steinberg spent time as the Technical Director for the World Wide Retail Exchange (WWRE), and organization that provides SaaS support for applications being shared by the world’s largest retailers. Prior to his time in the retail industry, Steinberg spent 10 years developing and managing software products for IBM and Engenia Software. At IBM, he was charged with coordinating requirements and product specifications for IBM’s e-commerce information portal InfoMarket. When IBM shut down the InfoMarket service, Steinberg was asked to redesign the core federated search technology into a commercial off-the-shelf offering and deployed “Domino Extended Search”, a successful part of Lotus’s knowledge management suite and later extended to IBM’s WebSphere web services platform. Before leaving IBM, he became a Senior Manager in the companies government services division, where he was responsible for managing an effort to modernize all US Custom’s business intelligence systems. At Engenia, he was responsible for staffing, sales support, all aspects of customer engagements, and management responsibility of the core product development team.
Steinberg began his career as a software engineer, worked his way up to architect and finally technical manager. He received an Executive MBA from George Mason University and a computer science degree from Radford University.
